The district will continue to monitor road conditions and notify the community and staff of any changes.

Mini-THON 2018 MINI-THON 2018

The inaugural MNHS Mini-THON concluded as an enormous success on Friday, March 16.  MNHS students and advisors formed many lasting partnerships within the community during the last few months.  These relationships undoubtedly contributed to exceeding the organization's initial goal of raising $10,000.00 toward childhood cancer research.  A cumulative sum of $22,191.01 was raised to contribute to Four Diamonds, an organization that has helped nearly 4,000 children and families and supported a diverse platform of cancer research at Penn State Children's Hospital.  The philanthropic efforts of our students, staff, and community coincide with the additional 90,000 student volunteers and 265 schools across the nation who are bringing hope to families in need and giving back to their community.  We are proud to be part of such an awesome and inspiring cause!

Message from Dr. Cary

March 19, 2018

Dear Parents and Students,

It will be spring in just a few days! The winter will soon be behind us and we can look forward to warmer days ahead. Over the last few months while I was recuperating, I heard of the many good things happening in the district and I was so pleased.

I’d like to thank the School Board, Mr. Joe Driscoll, the cabinet, administrators, teachers, and staff for their efforts during my absence.

I’d like to thank our students for making us proud each day. I was especially proud of our high school students on the day of the Walk for our Lives event.

I wish you a warm spring recess and joyful holidays.

Dr. Carol Cary

Make-up Days during Spring Break

Dear Marple Newtown Families,

I know that this winter has been difficult for both families and school operations.

As we continue through the month of March, the district must reassess the academic calendar.  Meeting student instructional days is a priority. As indicated on the school calendar, days over spring break will be used for make-up days.

To meet the required 180 days of school set by the state, our schools will be in session on Monday, March 26, Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28, 2018. If there are additional school closures, the district will reevaluate the school calendar at that time.

Having the additional days of instruction prior to the PSSA testing is a benefit for students.  We know that this change may effect prior plans for families.  If your child or children will be absent during those three days, please speak with your child’s principal.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

Joseph Driscoll
Substitute Superintendent
