Dear Students and Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2009:
Due to the complexities of the 2008-2009 school calendar, this year’s commencement had been moved from Thursday, June 11, 2009 to Monday, June 15, 2009. Unfortunately,
The Pavilion at Villanova University, where we have successfully held graduation for the past three years, is not available to us on June 15th. In addition, after an extensive search, we have been unable to locate a suitable regional venue in which to host our commencement exercises.
I am, however, pleased to announce that we have developed a plan and received the approval from our Board of School Directors, which will allow us to hold Commencement on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at The Pavilion at Villanova University.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires all students to attend school for a minimum of 180 days. The June 11th graduation date will leave our seniors one day shy of the 180 day minimum. Therefore, we are developing an educational program for all 12th grade students on Friday, February 13, 2009. Dismissal on this day will be 11:00 a.m. Holding this “seniors only” school day will allow us to proceed with commencement on June 11th. The focus of this day will be career exploration. We will provide more details as we get closer to the date.
Please be aware that in the event that we have any school closings due to inclement weather, seniors will need to make up those days as well. We will begin with Monday, May 18th. Additional make-up days will be added, as necessary.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and flexibility. We look forward to seeing you at The Pavilion on the night of June 11, 2009.
Sincerely, Ray McFall,
Principal
