The MNHS Chess Club provides a weekly opportunity for students interested in both social and serious chess competition. The club meets Wednesdays in Room A208 from the end of school until 4:30 p.m.
The coach, Mr. Oberholtzer, holds a national Expert rating and strives to informally improve the chess playing skills of the members of the club.
The top five members of the club form the MNHS chess team. The team competes in the scholastic Main Line High School Chess League with 6 other high schools.
The club hosts an annual chess championship in the spring, which is open to any student in the high school, not just club members.
Complete information about the club can be found on the club website, www.mnhschess.org, including officers, a calendar of events and the chess team’s participation in the Main Line High School Chess League.
