Growing Strong in Good Character
Bully Prevention Program
Worrall Elementary School takes pride in our effort and success to create a positive and safe school climate for all students.
We implemented our Bully Prevention Program in 2006 and each year we are committed to modifying the program, as needed, to meet the students' needs.
Parents have a critical role in assisting us with our Bully Prevention Program. Please see the hyperlinks on this page with materials about our program: our Worrall Words of Wisdom, how to identify and respond to a school situation, incident slips, Parents Part, etc.
The most important element of our program is to recognize that, despite our effort to prevent bullying, situations will occur and we need our parent’s help by ensuring someone at school is informed. Parents are encouraged to contact someone at the school (the teacher, principal or the counselor) and never assume an adult is already aware of a situation. We handle bullying situations very seriously and want to know when something occurs here at school so it can be addressed in a timely fashion.
Character Education Program
Each year, the teachers meet over the summer and develop a theme for the upcoming school year. The theme for this year is I AM. Our goal is to encourage students to think about the person they want to be and show who they are with their actions. Upon demonstrating the featured character trait, students’ are celebrated and recognized by having their names displayed on a bulletin board by the main office.
Every other month, we introduce a new character trait with a fun, interactive assembly. The schedule for 2015-2016 is below:
September 18th - Kickoff Assembly introducing all Character Traits and Empathy
October 23rd - Good Manners
December 4th - Thankfulness
January 22nd - Responsibility
April 8th - Positive Attitude (PSSA April 11th)
May 13th - Teamwork
TBA - Wrap-Up Assembly
