MARPLE NEWTOWN SCHOOL BOARD PUBLIC NOTICE

The Marple Newtown Board of School Directors approved its 2017-2018 Proposed Preliminary Budget on January 3, 2017 and is now available for public inspection.

The Preliminary Budget proposal for 2017-2018 is available for public inspection, in the Business Office of the Marple Newtown School District, 38 Media Line Road Suite 210, Newtown Square, PA. 19073, all schools, the local libraries, municipal buildings, and on the District website (click here).

The Act 1 index applicable to the School District as calculated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education is 2.50%.   The Preliminary Budget Proposal assumes that the School District will receive approval for use of one or more Act 1 real estate tax referendum exceptions.  

Notice is also herby provided that the Marple Newtown Board of School Directors is scheduled to officially adopt the Preliminary Budget on January 24, 2017, at 7:30pm, in the board room at the address listed above.

The Marple Newtown High School Marching Band are Cavalcade of Bands, Yankee Open Class Champions 3 YEARS IN A ROW - 2014, 2015 and 2016! This year, they had an undefeated season and high score of 97.2! They earned: High Score! High Percussion! High Color Guard! High Overall Effect!

2017 National Merit Commended Students Announced Commended Students

The principal, Dr. Gregory Puckett, of Marple Newtown High School announced that Julia Gloninger, Karch Klos, and Beneshia Mathew have been named Commended Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT ®.) Congratulations Julia, Karch, and Beneshia!

 

2017 National Merit SemiFinalists Announced SemiFinalists

The principal, Dr. Gregory Puckett, of Marple Newtown High School announced that Regina Fairbanks, Phillip Missan, and Sara Danenhower, have been name Semifinalist Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only some 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists. Students who qualify as Semifinalists based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT ®) are the only program participants who have an opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships. About 7,500 of the outstanding Finalists will be chosen as Merit Scholarship® winners in the 2017 competition.  Congratulations Regina, Phillip, and Sara!
