Elementary Summer School Office Assistant -- DATE OF POSTING: May 5, 2008

Applications are now being accepted for Elementary Summer School Office Assistant.  The successful candidate will assist the coordinator with  attendance, record keeping, and student transition from class to class.  This is a temporary position without benefits.  The rate is $9.12 to $ 9.42 per hour.

Coordinator of Elementary Summer School -- DATE OF POSTING: April 28, 2008

Applications are now being accepted for Coordinator of Elementary Summer School.  The successful candidate will coordinate the planning and organizing of the program from compiling registrations to assigning classes.  During summer school hours, the coordinator will supervise the instructional program, students, and staff.  This is a temporary supplementary position without benefits.  The rate is $29.00 per hour.

QUALIFICATONS:  Enrolled in an Administrative Certification program or holding a Pennsylvania Principal certification is preferred.

Summer Custodian Assistants -- Date of Posting: April 23, 2008

Applications are now being accepted for thirteen (13) Summer Custodian Assistants.  This is a temporary hourly position with no benefits.

Effective:  June 16, 2008 through August 28, 2008, flexible daytime hours.

Rate:         $8.00 to $8.25 per hour (Avg. 8hrs per day, including unpaid lunch/5 days per week)

Location:  District wide, where needed. 

Primary Function:  Custodian Assistants perform custodial work with minimal supervision for the routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings including, but not limited to, cleaning of carpeted, tile, wood and other floor surfaces; dusting, cleaning, waxing and moving furniture; cleaning doors, fixtures and glass surfaces including windows, door glass, framed pictures; cleaning and disinfecting lavatories, rest rooms and locker rooms; and collecting trash, flattening boxes and placing them into a dumpster; loading and unloading shipments of supplies, materials, and equipment; and light grounds keeping, including, raking, planting and trimming of plants, shrubs, etc..

Minimum Qualifications:  Minimum 16 years of age; ability to properly use all types of commercial vacuum cleaners, stripping and buffing machines and any special tool or piece of equipment assigned for the performance of duties and; the ability top lift up to 25 lbs. Should possess the ability to perform the essential functions, work independently, follow directions, and take initiative in assisting co-workers as needed. High School and College students are encouraged to apply.

Hall Monitor -- DATE OF POSTING: March 25, 2008

Applications are now being accepted for Hall Monitor.  The minimum rate for this part-time position is $9.12 per hour; work schedule is four (4) hours per day. 

Primary Function:  To assist the administrative staff with maintaining the safety and security of students, visitors, grounds, and property of the district.         

    • Assist with the monitoring of students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, playground, and other assigned areas.
    • Monitors play areas, school grounds, hallways, lobbies, entrances, exits and other parts of grounds or buildings for visitors, guest and others, and provides them with guidance and direction to appropriate areas.
    • Provides direction and information to students, staff, guest and visitors for proper access to areas of district buildings and grounds.

PART TIME BUS DRIVER — DATE OF POSTING: 2007-2008

Theme Editors -- DATE OF POSTING: November 1, 2007

Applications are now being accepted for Theme Editors.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The position of Theme Editor is a part time hourly position designed to provide students with the opportunities needed to become proficient writers. Theme Editors will be required to work a minimum of 6 hours in one day but may be employed for more than one day per week. Theme Editors will not be scheduled more than 30 hours per week, and Theme Editors working more than one day per week may be assigned to assist an additional teacher (s) on subsequent days. Each secondary English Teacher will receive one Theme Editor assigned to their classroom per week.

QUALIFICATIONS: BS/BA Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or other related fields; or hold an English Certification (7-12).

LOCATION : Paxon Hollow Middle School; Marple Newtown High School.

RATE: Up to $300.00 per week

FULL- AND PART-TIME CUSTODIAL

Applications are now being accepted for FULL- AND PART-TIMECUSTODIAL positions. These positions have a minimum starting salary of $12.66 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Experience performing commercial cleaning and janitorial duties and knowledge of safety regulations, proper methods for using and storing cleaning chemicals and floor finishes preferred;
  • Requires ability to properly use all types of commercial vacuum cleaners, stripping and buffing machines and any special tool or piece of equipment assigned for the performance of duties.
  • Requires physical ability to perform the physical requirements of the work, including the ability to lift, pull, push and carry items weighing more than 25 pounds from one location to another and on occasion items weighing more than 50 pounds and to properly use all types of commercial vacuum cleaners, stripping and buffing machines and any special tool or piece of equipment;
  • Knowledge at present or the ability to be trained for basic electrical repairs, such as ballast replacement, repair of flushing mechanisms, and perform minor repairs with custodial equipment or other repairs throughout the building;
  • Must possess the temperament to work with students and staff exhibiting a wide range of emotions, and the physical ability to perform the essential duties;
  • Satisfactory criminal, child abuse and medical clearances.

Examples of Job Duties:

Perform custodial duties that relate to the care and cleaning of buildings, grounds and equipment, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs general cleaning tasks, which include, sweeping and mopping, cleaning, scrubbing and renewing floor surface finishes, dusting, cleaning and waxing furniture, cleaning doors, fixtures and glass surfaces including windows, door glass, framed pictures, etc.,
  • Cleaning and disinfecting lavatories, rest rooms and locker rooms and collecting trash.
  • Performs limited maintenance tasks, such as replacing ceiling tiles, cleaning filters on unit vents, changing interior light bulbs, cleaning light fixtures, performing operator maintenance on school owned equipment (vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, wet / dry vacuum, etc.)
  • Loading and unloading shipments of supplies, materials, equipment, etc..
  • Shovel snow and remove ice when required

Homebound Instructors

Applications are now being accepted for Homebound Instructors. This is a part-time hourly position that works on an as needed basis providing instruction of district curriculum to students in residences and other off-site locations. Work may be performed days, evenings and weekends. The hourly rate is $29.00 per hour.
