2nd Parent Education Conference -- Back by Popular Demand! The 2nd Parent Education Conference will be held Saturday, November 17, at Marple Newtown High School, and will include sessions presented by District Administrators and Teachers Professionals on a variety of topics of interest to parents of children of all ages. This year, child care will be available in the cafeteria, supervised by teacher Mrs. Mollie Fahnestock, for children aged 3 and up who are toilet trained. Brochures with titles and times of the sessions were sent home with students, and can be downloaded here. Complete descriptions of all sessions can be found on the web at: http://www.mnsd.net/parentconference.

Winter Athletics OrientationThe Marple Newtown Athletic Department will be hosting an orientation for winter athletes on November 15th, 2007 in the auditorium, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The evening will begin with a dinner served for the winter athletes in the cafeteria.  This will be followed by a power point presentation by me on the expectations we have set forth with our “Raising the Bar” program.  Our keynote speaker will be Mr. Jim Brogan.  The event is open to anyone who wishes to attend the orientation.  The dinner is limited to student athletes. Jim Brogan is a former NBA Player with the San Diego Clippers and Golden State Warriors. He is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with degrees in Business and Psychology and is the President of Jim Brogan, Inc. Jim Brogan has been dedicated to developing strong well-rounded youth on and off the court since 1985. Jim’s newest program, 10 Steps to Success, is an exciting new approach in motivating young people for success in life. The elements, beliefs and values put forth in this program are key principles, which enabled Jim to play professional basketball. Over the years, Jim has given hundreds of motivational presentations, speaking engagements and personally instructed thousands of young people in matters relating to his 10 Steps to Success.

Jim is a successful entrepreneur with his company's corporate offices located in San Diego, California. He continues his role as broadcaster for FOX Sports, covering University of San Diego games. He also coaches young men and women weekly in his Basketball Academy and during his summer camps. Jim also dedicates himself to many local and national charities such as DARE.
