Unless
otherwise noted, all Committee and Regular Board Meetings are
held in the Board Room, Gauntlett Center, West Chester Pike Entrance,
Newtown Square, PA 19073 In
an effort to ensure ample time for public comment at school board
meetings, the Marple Newtown School District is reminding the
community to register to speak before board meetings.Community
members can request to speak during the school board's public
comment period by writing to the board secretary by 3 p.m. prior
to the day of the board meeting. The board secretary, Joseph Driscoll, can be reached
at the district's administration offices at 40 Media Line Road
in Newtown Square, 610-359-4277 (email jdriscoll@mnsd.org). Speakers will be given up to
three minutes during the public comment period. The board meets
on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Gauntlett Center off
Media Line Road.The district's guidelines for public comment at
board meetings are outlined in a policy that was adopted in May 1997. With interest in speaking at meetings
increasing, the district wanted to remind the community of the
need to register to be on the agenda prior to a meeting. Copies
of the district's policy are available from the district administration
and will be attached to each board meeting agenda.

The district strategic planning steering committee has met and developed a mission statement, vision, shared beliefs and goals.

Action Plan Teams have been formed and will be meeting over the next several months.

VI. Action Items/Motions
a. To approve the Achieve 3000 contract in the amount of $36,080 per year for three years for the KidBiz and TeenBiz web-based reading programs. The contract is subject to review and approval of the school district solicitor. The contract will be effective August 2008 through June 30, 2010. The amount of the payment for year one is allocated in the 2008-2009 proposed expenditure budget.
b. To approve the High School Music Department calendar as presented.
