Culbertson Elementary School Playground!
Swinging, seesawing, sliding and jumping rope, it’s time to help Culbertson put the play back in playground. On Saturday, April 26th from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. the Culbertson Elementary School will be holding a Play-a-Thon event to raise funds for new playground equipment that will benefit all the Culbertson students and our community. Each child will complete a 20 minute play circuit comprised of five minute sessions of swinging, seesawing, sliding and jumping rope.
The money the Play-a-Thon raises will be used to purchase new swings, replace the seesaws and incorporate ADA equipment as well as other pieces designed to encourage upper body and core strength. The new playground will be designed to stir the children’s creative juices, help build cognitive and motor skills and develop agility, strength and confidence. Our goal is to raise enough money to install the new equipment next school year to commemorate Culbertson’s 50th anniversary.
The Play-a-Thon is an immediate benefit for your child, too. Besides being a blast, it teaches the importance of physical activity, helps build school spirit, and enhances our relationship with the community. If every student could set a goal of getting 10 sponsors to contribute just $5.00, we would be well on our way to raising the funds for a fabulous, new and improved playground!
Family and friends are welcome to support your child’s participation by making contributions. However, we ask that children not go door-to-door or ask strangers for donations. The donations should be collected in the accompanying Play-a-Thon envelope and must be returned on event day. Checks should be made payable to Culbertson PTO.
On event day, your child will be given a Play-a-Thon t-shirt to wear. Please make sure your child wears sneakers. The event is rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors at Culbertson and consist of 4 stations of physical activity such as jumping rope, hula hooping, etc.

Community Yard Sale! Also that day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. we will hold the first every community yeard sale. Spring cleaning has never been so easy! Set up a table for your gently used items for only $10 per 10' x 10' space (sign up now -- its $20 per space after April 14). Don't have time? Donate your items and the Culbertson PTO will sell them for you. 100% of the proceeds will support the new playground.
