INTRODUCTION

High school marks the final stage of your required public education.  Therefore its purpose is twofold: to prepare you for post-graduation pursuits and to help you develop and refine critical thinking processes and skills.  Both are integral to a successful future as a responsible and contributing member of society.

Education in twenty-first century America requires that we equip students with ample knowledge of the changing world and the skills to navigate a clear course into the future.  Marple Newtown High School is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to chart a path for personal success and achievement.

Towards that end, members of the entire Marple Newtown High School community have been involved in the creation of this guide.  The courses described in the pages that follow take into consideration a variety of educational and career options towards meeting graduation requirements.  We encourage you to peruse these pages carefully and make choices that reflect your needs, abilities and interests.  Our Guidance Counselors will assist and guide you in the course selection process . . . and it begins right now.
