This fall MN hosted a group of ninth and tenth grade students from the Kaiserpfalz Realschule in Ingelheim, Germany, a small town along the Rhine. Next summer MN students will be traveling to Ingelheim. Students stay with host families, attend classes, and take trips to local places of interest.
Homestay Program in Germany
Once again the German Language School Conference will be sponsoring a Summer Homestay Program for 12 through 16 year-olds in Ingelheim, near Frankfurt, Germany. The program offers students an opportunity to travel and use German in a German-speaking environment under teacher supervision.
The students live with the carefully screened host families and participate fully in their daily life.
Planned activities give students an opportunity to practice German in everyday situations. Students attend two weeks of school with their host brother or sister in Ingelheim, and travel for one week as a group. Plans also include a Rhine River cruise with a castle excursion, visits to the Gutenberg Museum Print Shop, the Cathedrals of Mainz and Cologne, a chocolate factory, the Roman side of Cologne and other places of interest to teenagers.
