-- Programmatic Upgrades


Project Home Project History & Description Layout

Academic Programmatic Upgrades:

ClassroomAddition – Six classrooms (three per floor) will be added to allow for desired class sizes. A total of 52 classrooms are included in the final plan, with approximately 850 square feet per classroom. Classrooms will receive renovated finishes, upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems, and technology/program improvements.

Science Lab Upgrades –A total of 12 science labs are included in the final plan. Six (6) of these labs can accommodate larger class sizes. Labs will receive renovated finishes, science cabinetry, upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems, and technology/program improvements.

Media Center Relocation – The Library will be relocated to the middle of the school for ease of access to the student body. Improved acoustics and added technology will be included in the upgrades. The expansion of existing cafeteria and kitchen area will provide for added space in the media center’s new location.

Technology Education Suite –A new suite on the ground floor will consolidate the technology education programs in a renovated area that will have new finishes, upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems, and technology/program improvements.

TV Studio Suite – A new suite of spaces will provide for a TV Studio, Control Room and classroom for TV Studio education. The suite will be located in the renovated school and will include new finishes, upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems, and technology/program improvements.

Performing Arts Programmatic Upgrades:

PerformingArtsAddition – This addition includes a new band rehearsal room, a new orchestra rehearsal room and a new choir rehearsal room. An expanded dressing room area is also provided in this new construction behind the stage.

Auditorium Renovation – The space will be renovated to provide for better acoustics, improved seating, new stage equipment, finishes replacements and upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems.

Auditorium Amenities Additions and Upgrades – The auditorium area will receive additional rest rooms, a concession area
and ticket booths to provide for better accommodations during performances.

Athletic Programmatic Upgrades:

Gymnasium Expansion – The gym will be expanded to provide for more seating. Currently, the gym seats about 750, and
the plan is to expand seating toward Media Line Road by about 525 seats for a total of 1,275 seats. The gym will receive select renovated finishes in the internal expansion and upgrades to electrical, lighting and mechanical systems.

Cardio/Weight Training Center Upgrade – The current library will be converted into a cardio/weight training center, with appropriate proximity to the gym. Physical therapy services will also be supported in this area.

Natatorium Systems Upgrades – The pool filter system and mechanical systems will be upgraded. The pool ceiling (including lighting) will be renovated. No significant pool program changes are planned.

Supporting Programmatic Upgrades:

Cafeteria/KitchenAddition –A new cafeteria with seating for 500 students is planned. The enlarged cafeteria will eliminate
the class interruptions (20 minutes of class, then lunch, then 20 more minutes of class) now required to accommodate lunch for the student population. The new kitchen will have modern equipment that can support the Culinary Arts Program.

Relocated Mechanical Room and Loading Area – This space will be in the rear of the building with exterior access.
