SPP Scores Released Today

Dear Parents/Guardians/Community Stakeholders,

Today, October 13, 2016, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) released the 2016 School Performance Profiles (SPP). With the exception of our high school, our schools did not have an SPP score last year.

This year, 2016, reflects the first SPP scores of students using the rigorous PA Core Standards. The SPP uses a formula that is heavily dependent on standardized test scores. Pennsylvania aligned its standardized testing system to the more rigorous PA Core Standards and while the performance is still in transition, it is trending in the right direction.

Our schools remain strong in academic achievement and by next year we expect the achievement to be more fully apparent when tied to the SPP score. SPP scores can be viewed by visiting Please contact your child’s principal if you wish further information about the SPP.

Thank you,
Dr. Cary

2017 National Merit SemiFinalists Announced SemiFinalists

The principal, Dr. Gregory Puckett, of Marple Newtown High School announced that Regina Fairbanks, Phillip Missan, and Sara Danenhower, have been name Semifinalist Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only some 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists. Students who qualify as Semifinalists based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT ®) are the only program participants who have an opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships. About 7,500 of the outstanding Finalists will be chosen as Merit Scholarship® winners in the 2017 competition.  Congratulations Regina, Phillip, and Sara!
