What’s Going on in the Tech Department?

Technology & Facilities Work Orders:  All work requests for technology support or facilities repairs or projects will now be submitted using the District's new web-based Service Desk Portal.  This portal will provide you with the ability to submit requests to either department, track the status of those requests, and search for resolutions to problems on your own.  It will allow the District to better track and address concerns, and issues won't slip through the cracks because someone lost a sticky note or forgot a request made verbally.

Look for the Cherwell Web Portal shortcut in your Internet Explorer Favorites.  Attached are instructions for accessing the MNSD Service Desk Web Portal. For facilities requests, please check with your building administration before inputting requests in the system, as some buildings may continue to use paper or implement their own system as we transition to the new web-based system.  All technology requests should be made using the new system.

We’re currently working on the following projects which will make using technology in the District faster, more convenient, and more secure. We’ll keep you updated as the projects progress:

  • Help Desk Tracking – You will simply log your tech requests through the web and get prompt feedback about the status of your requests.
  • Folder Redirection – Save all your files to “My Documents” and they will be available to you from any computer you have logged into in the District, and the files will be backed up nightly. No more digging down to your “M” drive.
  • Outlook – All staff will soon have the added features and convenience of using Outlook instead of Outlook web access. (Of course, Outlook Web Access will still be available for you to use from home.)

Stay tuned for more updates!

Inspiration & Kidspiration Resources :

Inspiration and Kidspiration have launched an educator's resource site: www.inspiredlearningcommunity.com– where you can find lessons, templates and activities designed by other teachers.  Just click on the "Lessons and Ideas" tab and you can download hundreds of  Inspiration or Kidspiration files for use in your classroom.  If you've created an Inspiration or Kidspiration activity that you're proud of, you can submit it to the site to share with other teachers.

You can also submit your best activities to the Inspiration Scholarship:  The 2007-2008 scholarships will recognize 25 educators who are creatively using visual learning to help their students think and learn with $1,000 awards to support professional development or new technology for their classrooms. In addition, one outstanding educator will receive a special award for "Best Overall Visual Learning Project."

The 2007-2008 scholarship program is now open for entry.
