Google Docs
Google Docs has enjoyed a rapid rise in popularity in educational institutions.Google Docs is Google's free "software as a service" office suite. Google Docs serves as a collaborative tool for editing documents in real time. Documents can be shared, opened, and edited by multiple users simultaneously.

Documents, spreadsheets, presentations can be created with Google Docs, imported through the web interface, or sent via email. Documents are automatically saved to Google's servers to prevent data loss, and a revision history is automatically kept so past edits may be viewed. Documents can be tagged and archived for organizational purposes.

Google Docs at PHMS

Paxon-Hollow Middle School is using Google Docs as a "communal repository" for cross-curricular resources and activities related to:

1. Activating Prior Knowledge and Making Connections
2. Questioning
3. Making Inferences
4. Visualizing
5. Determining Importance
6. Assessing Learning
7. Summarizing and Synthesizing
8. Monitoring
Teachers can draw from this Google Docs repository, make edits to existing documents, and add their own resources and activities for others to use. This site is designed to encourage the broad adoption of a standard terminology and to provide yet another resource for teachers to use to help engage students in a consistent way.
